I have spent much of my career grappling with a simple but urgent question: How can energy policy keep pace with the climate crisis?

For more than 17 years, I have worked at the intersection of renewable energy practice, international policy, and academic research. My journey has taken me from conference stages to field visits at biomass facilities, and into the debates that shape how societies define “sustainable” energy. What drives me is not just whether a technology works, but whether our political and regulatory frameworks allow it to truly deliver on its promise.

Through Biomass Policy, I write and comment on the contradictions and opportunities of biomass in the global energy transition. My aim is to bridge science, policy, and practice – and to communicate these debates in a way that resonates with decision-makers and practitioners alike.

I studied business administration at the European University Viadrina and earned my PhD in law at the Free University of Berlin, where I focused on the governance of energy transitions. To expand my perspective, I recently completed the Clean Power 4-Month Program at Imperial College London, exploring advanced strategies for decarbonisation and renewable power integration.

What I focus on

  • Explaining complex energy debates in a way that sparks dialogue
  • Biomass and bioenergy policy across Europe, North America, and Asia
  • The political economy of renewable energy and net-zero strategies
  • The intersection of law, economics, and climate governance
